Hessam in Charleston, SC
When Mary Martin opened her fine art gallery nine years ago her goal was simple, “Every home and business in America should have original fine art.” Her goal gets closer with time and then some! Mary Martin Gallery recently received the honor of being the first South Carolina gallery to be selected as one of the top 25 Best Galleries in America. Since opening, Mary Martin has definitely been known for pushing the Charleston art scene into another dimension by bringing a diverse group of exciting nationally and internationally acclaimed artists recognized for excellence in oils, pastels, watercolors, bronze, wood and ceramic.
Mary Martin, lives up to her reputation of introducing world class artists to the Charleston art scene; renowned artist Hessam Abrishami will be joining the more than 50 artists the gallery represents. A master of vibrant colors, dynamic composition, and powerful expression, known by his first name, Hessam, has chosen the appropriate title of “Color Of Passion” for his first Charleston Show.
Hessam’s paintings can be found in international private collections and museums. He has been professionally contributing to the contemporary art scene for more than forty years; exhibiting in over 100 one man gallery shows, over 25 international exhibitions and multiple museums exhibits.
Opening Reception: September 6th, 2013 at 5pm
Comfortable with a variety of mediums; Hessam starts his paintings intuitively a single stroke of color. “I deal with my colors savagely. I put them on the canvas and fill it rapidly. When I paint I want to be blind to the physical object and see the world without any preconceived notions of the way things ought to look. I have to move fast in order to avoid wrestling with consciousness,” states Hessam. Hessam has created his own unique style mixing classical and modern masters such as Da Vinci to Picasso. His works, filled with love and laughter, music and dance, are often described as a place where only our senses exist - the mood of a love story, a friendly gathering or birth of a child.
Influenced by the ancient history that surrounded him, Hessam’s love of art and talent for paintings became apparent at the age of 15. Hessam went on to study in Italy - a place he considered “the center of art in Europe.” It was in Perugia, Italy that he studied and completed his Master’s Degree in Fine Arts at the Accademi De Belle Arti “Pietro Vanucci.” Yet evidence of his Persian heritage can be seen within the compositions and classic Persian images.
