Hessam Pays Tribute to Iranian Twin Sisters
When Hessam Abrishami heard the story of the 29-year-old conjoined twin sisters Ladan and Laleh Bijani from his homeland Iran who failed to survive an operation to separate them, he immediately began painting a homage to their perseverance in the face of such adversity.
“Together As One,” a celebration of their lives, is to be given to the family or the doctor who took cafe of them. Noting that both sisters persevered beyond their limitations, studying law because Ladan wanted to be a lawyer, 1-lessam says his painting serves as a message of recognition of the struggle faced by women in Iran as well as of compassion.
